Private Jet Charter in the UK
Most UK enquiries start in one of two places: a departure from the London area, or a regional departure where the aircraft has to reposition first. Both are routine, but they behave differently on price. In the UK, “private jet hire” and “private jet charter” describe the same commercial arrangement — you book the whole aircraft and its crew for a specific flight, operated by a licensed air operator, rather than buying seats or taking on a lease.
Domestic charter within the UK — London to Scotland, the regions, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man — is generally flown on turboprops and light or midsize jets, and the runway and handling constraints at the chosen field matter more than they do on longer sectors. International charter from the UK adds customs, crew duty and slot considerations, which is where the aircraft’s starting position starts to dominate the cost.

Why airport choice changes the quote
A dedicated business-aviation field can work better than the nearest major hub. Handling is usually quicker, the aircraft parks closer to the terminal building, and slot pressure is lower, so departure timing is easier to hold. Major hubs can still be the right answer — for a commercial connection, for a long runway, or when a specific aircraft is already there — but they typically carry higher ground costs and tighter slot availability.
Positioning is the other variable. If the aircraft has to fly empty to reach you, that leg is part of the cost. Choosing a field closer to where suitable aircraft already sit — or flying a route that matches an existing repositioning sector — can change the number materially.
